The algae included in our Flora Kits ($30.00) have been chosen based upon their overall
resilience *, ability to provide substantial shelter/surface area due to growth patterns,
“algal filtering” contribution, and aesthetics.
Algae with a tendency to sexually “bloom”, have been excluded, as we feel
these are not good choices for most Refugia. These
kits include 4 or 5 of the following: (We choose based upon availability, let us know of

*Caulerpa brachypus is a miniature
version of the popular Caulerpa prolifera. It is unique to this group in
that it is both delicate and will, from time to time, attempt to sexually reproduce by
falling apart and releasing gametes into the system. However, it's so small that the
effects are minimized and outweighed by the benefits of this beautiful and rarely seen
algae. |
Refugium Fauna
Kit |
The Fauna Kit ($70.00) is similar to the
Detritivore Kit. The difference is that each Fauna Kit does not include Bristle
Worms, but instead a greater quantity of Mysis, Gammarus and other Amphipods and
Copepods.
